~ Working with the best names in the business and her favourite employer so far.
I haven't worked with Chanel to date -- how I wish for that! But yes, I have been on the design teams of Burberry, Vivienne Westwood and a couple of other international names. And while I don't think I should be taking names, my favourite employer would have to be Galliano. The energy that their studio exudes is something that I have never come across anywhere else. It was actually a pleasure going to work every day. Creatively and socially one of the best environments I have worked in.
The experience of working at Galliano is what truly made me feel like I am better at what I do than most (which may not be true, actually!). There was no pressure -- they expected a standard of work from me and I worked hard to meet those expectations, so I was never plagued with worry.
~ On how to cope with the pressure of new assignments, given the expectations that come with such a world-class resume.
I'm not too easily flustered, but yes, it can be daunting to take up a new assignment. That's good, though, because it's the reason why I push so hard to prove myself. You have to give every project your best shot, there's no point in taking it up otherwise.
~ What it takes to make it in the international fashion industry and achieving success at such a young age.
It takes professionalism -- I keep stressing on this because it is so important. One just has to step out into the world and see that there is so much more to fashion than the ghagra choli. What you choose to do is totally up to you, but it is very important to be worldly and to know what is going on internationally. With the introduction of Vogue India and other brands opening stores across our country the awareness has grown, which I think is really, really good! Awareness and the urge to know and learn more are not things that appeal to everyone in this industry. Most people think they know it all!
