Junior Research Fellowships for Engg & Tech

What: The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in Engineering and Technology for the year 2007-08.

Eligibility
~ Candidates must have a Master's Degree in engineering/ technology/ pharmacy with at least 55 per cent marks from a recognised university
.
~ 22.5 per cent Research Fellowships are reserved for SC/ST candidates.
~ The candidate should not be more than 40 years of age as on July 1 of the year of the award; relaxable by five years for women and SC/ST candidates.
~ The total duration of the fellowship is 5 years.

About the award
The objective of this award is to provide an opportunity to research scholars to undertake advanced study 
and research in Engineering and Technology and Agricultural Engineering leading to PhD subjects like Geology, Geo-Physics and Mathematics are not considered under this scheme.

Fellowship

@Rs 14,000/- pm for initial two years
@Rs 15,000/- pm for remaining tenure

Contingency
@Rs 12,000/- pa for initial two years
@Rs 25,000/- pa for remaining tenure

Departmental Assistance
@ Rs 3,000/- pa per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure.


Escorts/Reader Assistance
@Rs 2,000/- pm in cases of physically handicapped & blind candidates.

Application details
The applications in the prescribed format, may be sent to the Joint Secretary, (Selection & Awards Bureau), University Grants Commission, Delhi University, South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi 110021 duly forwarded through the University/ Institution where the fellow desires to undertake research work within one month.

The selection will be made on the basis of merit and on the recommendations of the Selection Committee, constituted by the Commission. The decision of the Commission shall be final. Direct and incomplete applications will not be entertained. Canvassing in any form will be treated as disqualification.
