IIT-Bombay's AVENUES.07 management fest

What: In recognition of its Golden Jubilee year from September 2007 to March 2009, the Shailesh J Mehta School of Management IIT Bombay is organising its Annual International Business Festival, AVENUES.07.

When: The festival will be held on October 27-28, 2007 at the IIT-Bombay campus in Powai.

Details:

The theme of AVENUES.07 is 'The Emperors of India' and aims to highlight both ancient and modern management and socio-cultural issues. As a result, most of the events organised will concern management, case-studies and workshops.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Founder, Art of Living Foundation) and Sam Pitroda (Chairman, World Tel), among others, will be delivering inspirational speeches on how best to harness corporate potential to the country's benefit. Guests also include the likes of P Chidambaram (Finance Minister) and Vishwanathan Anand (Chess Grandmaster).

Several competitions are lined up and lakhs' worth of prizes will be awarded deserving participants. Events include:

Chitralkatha -- a short film competition on better governance through the Right to Information Act. Out of 54 entries, the film 'Road to Chandrapura' by Priyanka Tyagi won first place, followed by 'Public Distribution System', 'Jaano to Pehchaano' and 'Contraption' in second, third and fourth place respectively.

On Day Two of AVENUES.07 (October 28), IIT-Bombay plans to release the four winning entries to various media like television and the Internet. They will also be distributed to other IIT institutes across the country, in order to educate youngsters regarding the RTI Act.

Eminent RTI activist and IIT alumnus Mr Shailesh Gandhi has played a big role in 'Chitrakatha' and will be present at the screenings of the winning entries.
