You love your brother/ sister more than anyone in the world, but how can you get him to stop smoking?

First, tell him smoking tobacco leads to cancer of the mouth, lungs and throat. If that doesn't work, let him know that smoking cigarettes is directly linked to heart attacks. If he still won't listen, tell him that smoking related deaths are the number one preventable cause of death in India.

With such dangerous consequences, why would anyone willingly smoke?

A staggering 95 billion cigarettes are consumed in India every year, and the number continue to soar. (Source: Tobacco Institute of India). For some reason, our youth are picking up this deadly habit, but why? Is it to look 'cool'? Is it to imitate movies? What do you think?

Do you know anybody who died from smoking? How did it make you feel? What do you wish you could tell them now?

Do you know someone suffering from smoking related disease, such as cancer or emphysema? What message do they have for today's youth?

Finally, do you know someone who was once a habitual smoker, but managed to beat the addiction? What tips have they given you?

Everyone deserves a happy family. It's a shame that something preventable, tobacco smoking, destroys so many lives.

On the occasion of 'World No Tobacco Day', we invite readers to share their experiences and knowledge about this lethal habit -- smoking tobacco.

Who knows? Maybe your advice will touch somebody, somewhere, and allow him or her to finally quit smoking.
