6 mid-level phones for you

March 02, 2007
Looking for a cellphone that has some more features but does not burn a hole in your pocket? Your wish is our command.

We checked out the mid-level models to bring you six phones that allow you to do more than just make and receive calls, but don't leave you broke.

Note: The phones featured here all have a camera. Prices may vary from city to city.

LG Dynamite (KG 200)

Living up to it's name, this phone has an MP3 music player, FM radio and recorder, 1.3 megapixel camera, video caller ID (you can allocate video to all contacts in your phone book), sound recorder and an 'intelligent call' feature (the phone reads out the incoming and outgoing phone number).

Cost: Rs 7,000

Pros: Innovative features, 56 megabyte inbuilt memory, slot for memory expansion, high standby time (more than 220 hours) and charging via USB (Universal Serial Bus). A single USB port can be used to connect up to 127 peripheral devices, such as a mouse, modems, and keyboards.

Cons: Bulky, no bluetooth or infrared connectivity (which help exchange information between devices like mobile phones, laptops, computers, printers, digital cameras and video games).

Note: The KG 300 is also available with a 2 megapixel camera and bluetooth connectivity and costs slightly higher than the model featured here.
