IFS exam begins from July 8

What: The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Indian Forest Service Examination-2006 for recruitment to the Indian Forest Service. 

The exam will begin from July 8 and will be held at various centres across the country.

Do you qualify?

~ You must be not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years as on July 1, 2006.

~ You must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least one of these subjects:

  • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
  • Botany
  • Chemistry
  • Geology
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Statistics
  • Zoology

~ You could also have a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Forestry.

~ You could also hold an engineering degree or an equivalent qualification.

~ You must be physically fit according to the regulations given in Appendix-III of Rules for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2006, published in the Gazette of India dated February 11.

Number of attempts

~ Each aspirant is allowed a maximum of four attempts.

Important dates

~ Please send in your completed application forms before March 13.

~ Candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas specified in the notice may send in their completed applications by Post/ Speed Post only, before March 20.

How to apply

~ Obtain the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations from designated Head Post Offices/ Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice) throughout the country against a cash payment of Rs 20.

~ If you find it difficult obtaining the forms from the designated HPOs/ POs, please contact the concerned Post Master of UPSC's Forms Supply Monitoring Cell, at the following number:
