President A P J Abdul Kalam believes children should be encouraged to compete as it allows the blossoming of their creative genius.

President Kalam takes school children on a tour of his herbal garden"While grown-ups talk about countries and borders, caste and religions, poor and the rich, the work of children from across the world has been seamless and borderless," he said, as he gave away awards to participants from 68 countries whose works have been compiled in noted cartoonist K Shankar's Children's Art.

More mantras from the President:

The child's mind is in its purest form and has no divisive tendencies. We should let it blossom to the fullest.

There exists creativity in every mind, but it calls for a concerted effort to ensure that it is expressed.

When children ask questions, we have to answer them. It is a primary responsibility of teachers and the parents.
If this is done at a young age, creativity will be nourished and children will flourish.

With determined efforts, you can always succeed against established beliefs which is the power of creativity.
