What: The Indian Navy invites applications from unmarried male Indian citizens for the Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Executive Branch (General Service) for the July 2005 course.

Are you qualified?

~ You must be between 19� and 25 years or be born between July 1980 and January 1986 (both dates are inclusive).

~ You must have secured a first class at the graduation level with Physics and Mathematics as your subjects.

~ You could also hold a Masters of Science degree in Physics or Mathematics, with a minimum of 55 percent marks.

~ You could also have completed a BE or B Tech in any discipline with a first class.

~ You may also apply if you are a Science graduate in Physics and Mathematics, and hold an NCC Naval Wing, Senior Division 'C' certificate.

Physical Standards

~ You must have a minimum height of 157 cm with correlated weight.

~ You must have the minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision -- 6/12, 12 correctable to 6/6 or 6/6 with glasses.

~You must not have colour blindness or night blindness.

Selection process

~ If shortlisted, you are likely to be detailed between February and June 2005 for Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews in Bangalore, Bhopal or Coimbatore.

~ The SSB interview will include Pychological Tests, Individual Tasks, Group Tasks, Group Discussions and Interview.

Training particulars

~ If selected, your training is scheduled to commence in July.

~ You will be inducted as an officer in the rank of Sub Lieutenant.

~ You will be inducted through a Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Goa [Images].

~ You will be professionally trained at various Naval Training Establishments, Units and Ships.

~ You will be eligible for full pay and allowances as an officer in training.

~ You will be on probation for two years.

Pay scales

~ As a Sub Lieutenant, you will be paid between Rs 8,250 and Rs 10,050.

~ As a Lieutenant, you will be paid between Rs 10,000 and Rs 11,400.

~ As a Lieutenant Commander, you will be paid between Rs 12,800 and Rs 16,050.
