Planning a party and going crazy giving people directions to get to the venue? Or do you just have a bad sense of direction?

Don't worry, there's hope online.

Try CE Info System Pvt Ltd's eLocation, a location based service, on its Internet portal mapmyindia.com. It gives you city routes to find the place you want to reach.

How it works

1. Log on to mapmyindia.com and search for a location. You will need to enter the state, city and the place/ street/ colony.

For instance, I decided to give directions to the rediff.com office address.

I entered the state (Maharashtra), city (Mumbai) and place (Mahim).

2. Then I clicked the Get Map option, and a map was displayed showing Mahim on the Mumbai map.

3. The next step is to get eLocated.

Ten landmarks are shown and I can select any one and write down directions as to how one can get to the rediff.com office from that point.

4. I gave my directions a code that eLocation promised to activate within 24 hours.

Now, clear directions are available for anyone wanting to get to the rediff.com office. All you need to do is type in the code in the box under the 'Search an eLocation ID' option.

I gave it as rediff. So type it in to find out how it works.

You will see a map, the address, phone number and directions from the nearest railway station.

More add-ons

You can ask for other locations like beaches, banks, ATMs, etc, to be displayed on the map.

You can even put in driving directions.

eLocation promises to get even better in the future. CE Info System Pvt Ltd has entered into a joint venture agreement with Novasys SA, a European-based location services company.

Under this agreement, a new company will be formed to provide location-based services and content to Indian mobile subscribers for easy navigation and driving directions.

Novasys will provide the technology platform services while CE Info systems will provide the mapping and points of interest content.

They will work closely with mobile telecom operators in order to provide innovative location based services to the subscriber's mobile device.
