or the first time, an Indian fashion show will be telecast live in Pakistan.

The Fashion Design Council of India has tied up with ARY Digital Network as the international television partner for Lakme India Fashion Week 2005.

This means that, beginning April 22, the LIFW fashion shows will be beamed across the US, the UK, Europe, Pakistan, the Middle East and India.

Salman Iqbal, CEO, ARY Digital Network said it was a decision based on the common heritage, common historical linkage and the common cultural bond between India and Pakistan.

The network had earlier telecast a segment of the Lakme India Fashion Week 2004. Iqbal said the response they received was 'successful'.

For FDCI, this tie-up means the LIFW is "a step closer to the numerous international markets our designers are targeting," said FDCI director general Rathi Vinay Jha.
