Looks really don't matter. But they sure help you get ahead in life, says actress Mona Singh, of the popular serial, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin.

Jassi aka Mona Singh"I believe looks do not really matter, but if the situation demands you to use them to your advantage, go all out!" says Mona.

There is a catch: Jassi has transformed, but she has not changed as a person. Her feelings were still the same for her family and friends.

The makeover from the bespectacled Jasmeet Walia to the beautiful model Jessica Bedi happened to teach a lesson to characters Armaan Sir and Mallika Ma'am, who hurt her immensely.

Mona says she was very nervous before the long-awaited transformation -- her 'original face' had never appeared before the camera.

The fear evaporated as she received a very enthusiastic response from the audience. And thus proved right the theory of the ugly duckling turning into a swan.

Mona says television provides strong, woman-centric roles and a relatively easier chance to become successful.

But she will consider a feature film offer if it was challenging enough. There is no casting couch in the television
industry, she says.

Talent alone counts in the journey to success, she says, adding, "Small-town girls may prove to be gullible in such situations. But the larger picture is extremely clean."
