Rajni, the Obama of Tamil cinema?
March 03, 2009 12:28 IST

Looking at the latest posters of Tamil film, Arasan the Don, you may wonder what US President Barack Obama [Images] and Rajnikanth [Images] have in common. The poster shouts, 'Black men, Big History.'

Arasan the Don is actually the dubbed version of Mukul Anand's flop, Khoon ka Karz. The film was made in 1991 and starred -- in addition to the Tamil superstar -- Sanjay Dutt [Images], Vinod Khanna, Dimple Kapadia [Images], Sarika [Images] and Sangeeta Bijalani.

After 18 years, producer Kulanchiyappan decided to release its Tamil version. He has edited out portions of the other stars, so that viewers can see more of Rajni in the film. The dubbed version will have new DTS surround sound.
