Amol Palekar to make acting comeback

Syed Firdaus Ashraf | July 16, 2008 12:09 IST

Amol Palekar

Amol Palekar, who gave us some great movies like Golmaal, Choti Si Baat, Baaton Baaton Mein and Rang Birangi in the 1970s and 1980s, is making an acting comeback.

His new film, tentatively titled Saamantar, is a Marathi movie, which will be directed by him as well. It will co-star Sharmila Tagore.

When rediff.com contacted Palekar, he expressed surprise, and asked us who gave us this news.

Palekar's last full-fledged role was in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's brilliant thriller, Khamosh (1985). After that, he was seen in a bit role in Rakyesh Mehra's Aks (2001).

Palekar's last directorial venture was the Shah Rukh [Images] Khan-starrer, Paheli, which was sent to the Oscars.
