Akshay Kumar could be one of the highest tax payers in the country this year. He has reportedly shelled out a whopping Rs 26 crore in taxes this fiscal.

This is far more than Hrithik Roshan [Images] 15 crore paid as taxes in fiscal 2005/06. He was followed by Shah Rukh Khan [Images] who paid Rs 14 crore. That year, Akshay had paid a mere Rs 6 crore.

Last year, Akshay gave four hits in a row: Namastey London [Images], Heyy! Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome.

Reports says Akki's fee has shot up to a cool Rs 22 crore for a film. Despite that, the star is still in demand. He has as many as five films coming up -- Yash Raj Films' Tashan, Warner Bros' Chandni Chowk To China, Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakth Ishq, Vipul Shah's Singh Is Kinng and Nagesh Kukunoor's Eight By Ten.

The actor will reportedly earn Rs 110 crore in this year from his films alone. His endorsements and stage shows will, of course, be separate.
