After the success of Phoonk [Images], Kannada actor Sudeep will be seen in yet another Ram Gopal Varma film. The new film, Rann - A News Story, will have Sudeep working with Amitabh Bachchan [Images].

Rann is based on the media and its hold on the political and social life of the country.

Sudeep will play Jay Malik, the son of media baron Harshavardhan Malik (played by Bachchan). Jay Malik is an aggressive and ambitious go-getter, who wants to make his television channel the numero uno in the country. To him, a television channel is purely a business enterprise which has to profit and grow every year.

His father, on the other hand, is a Harvard-educated, moralistic journalist, who is highly respected in the media. He doesn't agree with his son's idea of using the channel to make money. 

The film also stars Raima Sen [Images], Ritiesh Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal [Images], Manisha Koirala [Images], Rajat Sharma, Gul Panag and Mohnish Behl.
