A Delhi court on Tuesday summoned Bollywood actor and producer Aamir Khan [Images] to depose as a witness in a seven-year-old case of violation of copyright of his film Lagaan [Images].

"Aamir Khan, who is a witness in this Copyright Act case, failed to appear before the court today. Therefore, I issue summons against him to appear in the court on February 10 next year," Metropolitan Magistrate Jagdish Kumar said in his order.

The case relates to the seizure of seven VCDs of Lagaan and 34 VCDs of Gadar by the Delhi Police in a raid on the shop of accused Risabh Chawla in Lajpat Rai market in the capital on June 22, 2001.

Complainant Anil Malhotra submitted he had the copyright of these two Bollywood films. Khan was made a witness in the case as the movie Lagaan was produced under his banner M/s Aamir Production Private Limited in Mumbai. Police filed the FIR against Chawla under Section 63 of the Copyright Act.
