Discrimination among Brangelina crew?
October 12, 2006 11:20 IST

In the upmarket Sindh Colony in Pune, which is the location for the shooting of Hollywood film A Mighty Heart, the distinction between Indian and foreign crew members is clear. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, the film stars Angelina Jolie [Images] as Mariane Pearl, the widow of US journalist Daniel Pearl, who was murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan four years ago. Dan Futterman plays Daniel Pearl.

Nayansukh Bungalow number 223 is one of the three bungalows hired for the film shoot, which started on October 9. The other two are used for makeup and meals for those engaged in the filmmaking.

A pandal has been set up on the terrace of the third bungalow, where foreign crew members are served food. "Though no one has said it in as many words, the food at the pandal is only for the foreign crew members. The Indians are to have their food at the ground floor," a contractual employee said. "I don't know the reason for this. This could be because our food is spicy and the foreigners avoid too much salt and spice."

Meanwhile, the uniformed waiters from Foodkraft Caterers, the pandal and the accompanying activity at the location give it a look of a wedding hall.
