Aishwarya Rai was questioned by the customs officials in Mumbai with regard to a mysterious parcel addressed to her, containing 23,000 euros (Rs 13.5 lakh).

Ash had expressed surprised when she first spoke of this incident last week.

To avoid the media, which had gathered outside the New Customs House in south Mumbai, the actress was questioned at the domestic airport, sources in Customs department told PTI.

The parcel, sent from Rotterdam in the Netherlands and marked to the actress, arrived at the Foreign Post Office in Mumbai in September. Besides the currency, it also contained a top-brand shirt, a pair of binoculars, a DVD player and other electronic items.

Aishwarya's [Images] father Krishnaraj Rai had met the Customs officials on November 15 to clarify her position on the issue.

Customs authorities had asked the actress to face the authorities to clarify her position on the parcel, containing the currency.
