Surrogate ads: Ministry to take a re-look

Taking note of the protests by broadcasters, the central government has decided to review its decision putting a 12-minute ceiling on the number of ads per hour and also deferred an order asking 43 channels to carry a scroll regretting telecast of surrogate ads of liquor and tobacco products.

Source said Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi took the decision after broadcasters sought a re-look.

"Decisions in this regard have been deferred and would be reviewed by the ministry," the source said.
