What you need to know about Raveena Tandon:

---Young Raveena insisted on doing whatever her brother Rajiv did, be it climbing trees or playing football.

---The actress schooled at Mumbai's suburban Jamnabai Narsee School. She attended the Mithibai College of Arts and Commerce for a while before she eventually dropped out to pursue a career in films.

---G P Sippy's Patthar Ke Phool was not the first film Raveena Tandon was offered. Filmmakers like Farookh Nadiadwala and Rahul Rawail had approached Raveena to star in their films, Fateh and Jungle. An unsure Raveena turned down these roles before she eventually took the plunge with Patthar Ke Phool.

---Raveena's fancy hoops in Patthar Ke Phool became a huge hit with teenaged girls. Her long pullovers over knee-length Lycra tights were also largely imitated.

---The stunner had a huge crush on former heartthrob Rishi Kapoor, with whom her father, Ravi Tandon worked in the superhit Khel Khel Mein. She eventually got a chance to work with Kapoor in Saajan Ki Baahon Mein. The film also costarred Tabu sank without a trace.

---Raveena's all-time favourite song is from her father Ravi Tandon's film Khel Khel Mein, the hit R D Burman composition Sapna mera toot gaya, sung by Asha Bhosle and R D. One of her favourite films is the rib-tickling comedy, Pyar Kiye Jaa, starring Shashi Kapoor and Kishore Kumar.

---Thanks to a tendency to put on weight easily, the actress is on a perennial diet, which comprises sprouts, salads, fruits, popcorn, yogurt and macaroni. Raveena loves to gorge on stuffed parathas and gulab jamuns. And she claims to have mastered the art of making lip-smacking gulab jamuns.

---Raveena is the proud mother of two adopted teenagers, Pooja and Chhaya. The actress is very close to the two and loves playing indulgent mother to them.

---Raveena has worked with the cream of directors, ranging from Yash Chopra (Parampara), Rajkumar Santoshi (Andaz Apna Apna), Shekhar Kapur (the ill-fated Time Machine which got shelved), J P Dutta (Kshatriya), Ramesh Sippy (Zamana Deewana), Rajiv Rai (Mohra), David Dhawan (Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan).

Not many remember that she also starred in Oscar-nominated Lagaan director Ashutosh Gowariker's directorial debut Pehla Nasha.
