Aankhen producer and director fall out
Director Vipul Shah may file a case against Gaurang Doshi

A correspondent

Director Vipul Amrutlal Shah is up in arms against producer Gaurang Doshi.

Shah plans to file a case against Doshi for not including his name in the DVDs of Aankhen. The film marked Shah's directorial debut and starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Bipasha Basu. Shah does not really know if the omission of his name has been done on purpose or by mistake.

"I have asked the producer and the distributor of the film, and both are trying to pass the buck. Distributor Chandrakant Mehta of CA Enterprises told me it would not serve him any purpose by deleting my name. And Gaurang tells me it is not his responsibility. Enough is enough. I can't take this anymore. I have now decided to take legal action against him. He has asked for time and I will give that time to him.

"But I do definitely plan to go ahead with the suit, to find out the truth. It really hurts when people cheat you. This is what I get in return for my hard work."

Shah adds, "The entire unit went against him [Doshi], including Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu and Arjun Rampal. I kept quiet. But I will have to expose him [Doshi]. He has still to pay me money. It is over four months and he keeps telling me he will soon clear it.

I really don't know why Gaurang has done this to me. Probably it is because I refused to direct his next film."

Doshi, for his part, has another story to tell: "I can show you the counterfoils of the cheques that I issued him [Shah]. What does he think of himself? Is he Karan Johar or something? He does not have any standing in the industry and this is the way he is behaving with me. I agree the actors had problems with me, but all of them are ready to work with me again.

"As for the DVDs, that is not my problem. He should go and speak to the distributor, not me," asserts Doshi.

It might be recalled that there was a fair bit of bad blood between Basu and Doshi, after he is said to have bullied her into doing a negative role. However, she has since patched up with him and has even promised to do another film with him.
