Captain G R Gopinath, who pioneered low cost air travel in India, is likely to contest as an independent candidate from Bangalore in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Captain Gopinath is likely to contest the election from the coveted Bangalore Central constituency. Senior Congress leader C K Jaffer Sharrief and former Bharatiya Janata Party [Images] member H T Sangliana have both sought the ticket for this prestigious constituency.

Captain Gopinath told media persons that several political parties had approached him to fight the polls, and discussions were going on with some of them. He is scheduled to address a press meet later where he will outline his exact plan of action.
