The Election Commission on Wednesday suspended two senior officials of Pilbhit district of Uttar Pradesh [Images] and transferred two others on the charge of failing to act against the Bharatiya Janata Party [Images] Lok Sabha candidate Varun Gandhi [Images] for his alleged inflammatory speech.

While the additional district magistrate and the additional superintendent of police were suspended, the district magistrate and the superintendent of police have been shifted and would not be given any election-related work, Additional Chief Election Officer Amrit Abhijat said in Lucknow [Images].
