The Crime Control Act was on Wednesday invoked against expelled Rashtriya Janata Dal Member of Parliament Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav [Images], a day ahead of the polling in this Bihar's parliamentary constituency of Purnia from where his mother Shanti Priya is in the fray as an Independent candidate. "We have applied section 3 of the CCA against Pappu Yadav in view of elections in the constituency tomorrow," Superintendent of Police Nyer Hasnain Khan told PTI.
Khan said under section 3 of the CCA, Yadav would have to report to the satisfaction of station house officer of Purnia police station twice a day, failing which, he would be externed from Purnia district limits.
"The SHO is required to report to superiors about Yadav's behaviour on a daily basis," he said.
Yadav, who is facing life-term in the Communist Party of India-Marxist Member of Legislative Assembly Ajit Sarkar [Images] murder case and is now on bail, is in his home town Purnia canvassing support for his mother who is locked in a virtual triangular fight with Bharatiya Janata Party's [Images] Udai Singh and Lok Janshakti Party's Shankar Jha. His wife Ranjit Ranjan is seeking a second term from adjoining Supaul Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket.
