Bharatiya Janata Party [Images] leader Varun Gandhi [Images] on Tuesday submitted his representation before an advisory board in the Lucknow [Images] bench of the Allahabad High Court, against the imposition of the National Security Act, over his alleged hate speech in Pilibhit [Images].

Gandhi, who is on a 15-day parole, submitted his representation during an in-camera proceeding in the court, saying the CD, on the basis of which the Election Commission had lodged an FIR against him, was not genuine.

In his representation, the BJP leader said the Uttar Pradesh [Images] government had slapped the NSA against him out of 'political vendetta'. He claimed that he had not created any law and order problem during his surrender on March 28 in the Pilibhit court.

The state government had invoked the NSA against him on March 29 and he was lodged in Etah jail. However, with the saffron leader giving an undertaking to desist from communal rhetoric, the apex court had ordered his release on an interim parole to facilitate his election campaign, on April 16.

Accompanied by his aunt Ambika Shukla, Varun denied having said anything inflammatory in his speech over, over which a complaint had been lodged with the EC. As per the law, the advisory board will now send its recommendation to the state government.
