In a shocking incident, 13 personnel of the Kerala [Images] Reserve Police were arrested by the Mangalore police on Saturday for creating nuisance at the Panambur beach area.

The 13 constables, who were on election duty in Buntwal -- a small town near Mangalore -- were arrested following complaints from residents of the area. The complainants, mainly women, alleged that the policemen (from Thrissur) beat them up when they refused to let them ride on a speed boat.

The Kerala policemen had come to the beach after their election duty. On reaching there, they decided to take a ride on the speed boat. But things turned ugly when they were refused a ride. Residents alleged that the policemen had been asked to wait as the speed boat was already booked. The policemen then allegedly started abusing and assaulting people.
