"Many countries in the world are facing economic recession and terrorism is proving to be a grave threat to the country. Only Congress has the experience and capability to tackle such situations," he said.

Singh was addressing a poll meeting at the Nehru Stadium in Indore in support of Congress Lok Sabha candidate and Member of Legislative Assembly Satya [Images] Narayan Patel. He stressed that Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government had firmly dealt with the terror strikes in Mumbai [Images] and taken a tough stance on it. In future also the government will deal with such elements sternly.

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party [Images] without referring to its prime ministerial nominee L K Advani [Images], he said people are fully aware of their hollow slogan of "strong leader and decisive government".

People are also aware of the fact that there is always a difference between their words and actions, the Congress leader said.

Criticising Advani without taking his name, he said people are aware of those who are talking about strong leadership and decisive government these days and what they did to deal with terror attacks when they were in power.

The Prime Minister said people should understand that BJP practices "politics of hatred" and beware of the saffron party.

Terming the allegations of Madhya Pradesh [Images] government that the Centre is discriminating against the BJP-ruled state in the allocation of power and grants as "baseless", the PM said it had received more funds under the UPA rule.

"In fact, during the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) rule the state government had received an assistance of Rs 39,000 crore, while under the Congress-led UPA, Madhya Pradesh has got Rs 67,000-crore aid which it failed to utilise properly," Singh said.

The BJP government in the state has failed to deliver this assistance to the people and the Centre has also received complaints of corruption in providing relief, he said.

Referring to the power crisis, he alleged that because of the state government's "irresponsible" attitude, people were facing acute power shortage. He flayed the ruling BJP for malnutrition deaths in the state and for not re-settling properly of those displaced by the construction of Sardar Sarovar Dam.

Singh also alleged that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has not shown keen interest in implementing the Right to Information Act in the state.
