The Congress on Sunday termed the ruling Shiromoni Akali Dal as a "private limited company" owned by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and said "jungle raj" has been prevailing in the state in the last two years.

The opposition party also cautioned the SAD leaders against pursuing "vendetta politics", saying such a policy would be reverted back when the party returns to power.

"Several Congress workers are implicated in false cases by police at the behest of SAD-BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party [Images]) combine leaders...if Congress is voted back, it will deal with the Akalis in similar fashion and crush those indulged in political vendetta," newly elected working president of Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee Lal Singh said.

"Whatever is happening under SAD-BJP regime against Congress workers is unfortunate. Only a few Akalis are bad and not all. Akalis will be replied in their own language when the Congress returns to power," he said after assuming office.

About law and order situation in the state, Singh told media persons, "Jungle raj is prevailing in Punjab for the past two years. The democratic system has crumbled."

Descrbing the SAD as a "private limited company" owned by chief minister, he said development was taking place only on papers.
