BJP wants Jharkhand governor recalled

March 04, 2005 13:44 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party is not satisfied with Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi's decision to advance the date for trial of strength for the new government in the state assembly.

"We want the governor recalled. We want the Shibu Soren government dismissed," senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh told media persons on Friday.

Razi, who kicked up a storm by inviting the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led United Progressive Alliance to form the government in Ranchi when the rival National Democratic Alliance appeared to have the numbers in its favour, on Friday said he would ask the government to seek a confidence vote earlier than scheduled.

The Shibu Soren-led government was earlier asked to take the confidence vote on March 21. The new date has not yet been announced.
