Cong to contest 80 seats in Bihar

January 13, 2005 16:48 IST

The Congress will contest 80 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar, highly-placed party sources said on Thursday.

The party will not put up candidates against sitting members of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Left parties, who are partners in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, the sources said

"We have decided to contest 80 seats and now it is up to them to think [RJD and Left parties] about tie-ups," the sources added.
