President's rule better: Paswan

February 24, 2005 21:37 IST

Lok Janshakti Party President Ramvilas Paswan said on Wednesday that imposition of President's rule will be better than the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Exit polls have projected the LJP as holding the key to government formation in Bihar.

''I have made it clear the LJP will not seek or extend support to either the RJD or the Bharatiya Janata Party-Janata Dal (United) combine. We will rather sit in the Opposition,'' said the Union chemicals and fertilisers minister.

''In the event of the LJP-Congress combine failing to secure a majority, imposition of President's rule in Bihar will be a thousand times better than aiding the RJD, which is responsible for the sorry state of affairs in the state,'' Paswan said.

He said, ''The LJP will not commit the sin of paving the way for return of the corrupt and ineffective RJD regime or back a communal government of the National Democratic Alliance.''
