Cops nab five Bihar netas

Two candidates each of the Lok Janshakti Party and Janata Dal (United) and another of the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal were arrested in Bihar on Saturday.

Maheshwar Yadav of the RJD was taken into custody when he went to file his papers for Gayghat assembly seat in Muzaffarpur district. A non-bailable arrest warrant was pending against him in a criminal case, the police said.

Ashok Kumar Singh, JD(U) nominee for the same constituency and Manoj Kushwaha, the party's candidate for Kurhani, were taken into custody in a similar fashion in Muzaffarpur.

LJP nominee Ratan Paswan was arrested in Chapra while filing his nomination for the Garkha assembly seat in Saran district. He had been declared absconder by a local court in a case filed by the state excise department.

Another LJP nominee, Suresh Sahni, was arrested when he turned up to file his nomination for Motihari in East Champaran district.
