Sushil Modi escapes attack in Bihar

February 04, 2005 01:49 IST

Bharatiya Janata Party vice president Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday escaped unhurt after a group of people attacked his vehicle at Champanagar in Bhagalpur constituency in Bihar, police said.

Sources said Modi was attacked when he was in Bashishtha Yadav's vehicle.

Yadav is the election agent of BJP's Bhagalpur nominee Ashwini Choubey.

Later Modi went to the police station close to the spot and lodged a complaint.

When contacted, Modi accused the Rashtriya Janata Dal of 'masterminding the attack out of sheer desperation in the face of certain defeat of its candidates in different constituencies in Bhagalpur'.

"I am absolutely safe and will not get cowed down by such tactics of RJD," he said.
