NCP expels 13 rebels

September 30, 2004 17:08 IST

NCP on Thursday expelled 13 rebels, including three sitting legislators, for anti-party activities.

"The NCP has expelled 13 rebels, including sitting legislators Tukaram Tupe, Vitthal Gosavi and Narsing Patil, from the party for six years," spokesperson Bharti
Lavhekar said.

The party has also accepted resignations of three members, former state unit chief Babanrao Pachpute, Harshvardhan Deshmukh and K P Patil, she said.

The action has been taken against the rebels for filing nominations against official candidates of the Congress-NCP alliance for the October 13 assembly polls in Maharashtra.
