October 18, 2004 09:07 IST

Newly-elected Congress MLA from Nagpur (south), Govindrao Wanjari, died in Mumbai on Sunday night, party sources said.

Wanjari suffered a heart attack at 'Varsha', the official residence of Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, and was rushed to Jaslok Hospital where he breathed his last at 2140 IST.

Wanjari was elected to the state assembly in the just-concluded assembly election defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Mohan Mate by 9000 votes.
