Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti on Tuesday said she has submitted her resignation from the post to Bharatiya Janata Party president Venkaiah Naidu.
Bharti told reporters in Delhi she has resigned to launch a nationwide agitation against Congress president Sonia Gandhi becoming the prime minister of the country.
"A foreigner becoming the prime minister of the country will put national security and the country's self-respect in jeopardy," she said.
She is leaving for Kedarnath on Tuesday night and will fax her resignation letter to the Madhya Pradesh governor from there.
