Shukla's widow seeks CBI probe

May 11, 2004 01:32 IST

The wife of senior BJP leader, Ghanshyam Shukla who died in a road accident last month, today termed the incident a "conspiracy" and demanded a CBI inquiry into the death.

Nandita Shukla has written to the Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee in this regard.

Ghanshyam Shukla, who was BJP nominee from Gonda, was returning after lodging a complaint of booth-capturing soon after voting was over for the day when he met with the accident, she said in her letter.

"The district administration showed undue haste in getting his port-mortem completed within an hour of the accident," she said, adding that this had made Shukla's supporters suspicious.
