TRS won't join Congress govt in AP

May 11, 2004 23:32 IST

Telengana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday night ruled out joining the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh.

"I hear they (the Congress party) will invite us to participate in the government but we will not be interested because our issue would get diluted. We are more interested in achieving the state of Telangana," he told NDTV.

Rao said the TRS would be interested in joining the government in the state only after Parliament passes a resolution for creation of a separate state of Telangana to oversee the distribution of employees, assets and liabilities.

Incidentally, the Congress has enough legislators of its own to form a government with a simple majority.
