Over 77% polling in Lakshadweep

The Lakshadweep parliamentary constituency has recorded 77.56 percent polling, according to preliminary information received in Kochi.

The constituency comprises 10 inhabited islands. They have been experiencing heavy rains for the past few days but on Monday the weather was bright and sunny. Women turned up in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

Deputy speaker of the dissolved Lok Sabha P M Sayeed is contesting for a record 11th term from the constituency. He is pitted against Janata Dal (United) candidate Pookunhi Koya.
