Cong declares 14 more Lok Sabha candidates

The daughter of senior Congress leader K Karunakaran, Padmaja Venugopal; former Union ministers Mullapalli Ramachandran and B S Engti; and All India Congress Committee secretary Subodh Kant Sahai figure in the list of 14 Lok Sabha candidates announced by the party on Wednesday.

While Padmaja will contest from the Mukundapuram parliamentary constituency represented by her father in the dissolved Lok Sabha, Ramachandran has been nominated from Kannur in Kerala.

Sahai has been nominated from the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand.

V Balram, who had vacated the Wadakanchery assembly seat for Karunakaran's son K Muraleedharan, will contest from Kozhikode. Eduward Edezhath has been nominated from Ernakulam.

The other candidates from Kerala cleared by the party's central election committee are Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president M I Shahnawaz (Chirayankil), Soornanad Rajasekharan (Kollam), Benny Behnan (Idukki), Anto Antony (Kottayam), K A Thulasi (Ottapalam-SC), V S Vijayaraghavan (Palakkad), M T Padma (Badagara) and N A Ahmed (Kasargod).
