Give Govinda a chance to prove his worth: Sunil Dutt

March 25, 2004 22:33 IST

GovindaThe Bharatiya Janata Party sees film star Govinda's nomination from the North Mumbai constituency as a sign of 'lack of good candidates with the Congress'.

But he has found a supporter in veteran Bollywood actor and four-time MP Sunil Dutt, who feels that Govinda should be given a chance. "Unless a person is given a chance, how can he prove his worthiness?"

Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters that the decision to field Govinda had generated enthusiasm among the people.

Apart from being an extremely popular actor, Govinda is also known to be extremely sensitive towards people's problems and hoped that this sensitivity would be reflected in his work.

The actor is pitted against BJP veteran Ram Naik, who is a five-time MP and Union minister.

Govinda's immediate priority is to visit the Jivadani temple in Virar and also meet the people who supported him in his early struggling days. He has no intention to be a 'neta number one' as he treats politics as service to the people and there cannot be a comparison between people serving the people.
