EC calls all-party meeting to discuss exit, opinion polls

March 23, 2004 18:37 IST

The Election Commission has convened an all-party meeting in Delhi on April 6 to discuss exit and opinion polls, being conducted by newspapers and television channels.

"The Commission wants to elicit the views of the various political parties," an EC spokesman told reporters.

Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishna Murthy had said in Kolkata last week that the EC is keen that the results of exit and opinion polls not be published till at least the last phase of elections is completed.

The Commission is expected to re-examine the issue.
