BJP likely to field majority of sitting MPs

February 26, 2004 15:59 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to field most of its sitting MPs in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

"This is the normal tendency," senior party leader Arun Jaitley said on Thursday.

However, there are some MPs who are encountering the anti-incumbency factor despite the 'feel-good' factor at the national level. "They may be controversial, may not be acceptable to the party's rank and file or may be misfits for several reasons. It is only in those exceptional cases that they may be changed," Jaitley said.
