C P Thakur's vote cancelled

April 20, 2004 15:02 IST

The vote of C P Thakur, Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the prestigious Patna Lok Sabha seat, was cancelled on Tuesday on the ground of breach of secrecy, sources said.

Thakur's wife and a few of his supporters were standing by his side when he was pressing the button on the electronic voting machine at a booth on Fraser Road in Patna, they said.

Unless the voter is infirm, only s/he should be present in the enclosure while casting the vote.

Thakur is locked in a direct contest with the Rashtriya Janata Dal's Ramkripal Yadav.
