Congress promises 10% growth rate

April 07, 2004 14:06 IST

Charging the BJP-led NDA government with 'fiscal indiscipline', the Congress on Wednesday said the wrong economic policies of the coalition had led to 'shrinkage' in employment, decline in industrial growth.

Releasing its 'Vision Document' on economic issues for the coming Lok Sabha elections, senior party leaders Manmohan Singh and Pranab Mukherjee pledged the party would accelerate the growth rate to 10 per cent if voted to power. It would ensure economic growth with a just society, freedom from hunger and unemployment.
