Himachal CM Prem Kumar Dhumal quits

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday resigned from his post in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party's rout in the assembly polls.

He submitted his resignation to Governor Suraj Bhan who asked him to continue till a government was formed.

Dhumal, who took over as the fifth chief minister of the state on March 24,1998, was the first non-Congressman to complete his term.
