Election 2002

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Girish Chandra Saxena on Friday reviewed the law and order situation in the state along with senior officials.

The review followed the imposition of governor's rule in the state under Article 92 of the Jammu and Kashmir constitution after caretaker Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah refused to continue in his post despite a request from Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.

Chief Secretary I S Malhi, Director General of State Police A K Suri, Secretary (home) C Phunsung and Corps Commander of 15 Corps V B Patankar attended the meeting at Raj Bhavan, official sources said.
