Claiming overwhelming support of the electorate in the ongoing assembly polls, National Conference president Omar Abdullah on Sunday said his party would bag at least 50 seats in the 87-member house.
"People of the state will overwhelmingly support the NC because they identify with the ideology of the party, which is not just a political party, but a movement of the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he said in Srinagar.
People realised that only the NC was committed to solving the problems of the state, he said.
Abdullah promised that an NC government led by him would work for the welfare of the people and would be transparent, clean and honest.
Emphasis would be on equitable development of all regions, especially the backward and far-flung areas where tourism potential would be harnessed by creating a good communication network, he said.
The NC chief said a multi-pronged strategy would be adopted to deal with the problem of unemployment.
Abdullah said all villages would be provided at least one English medium primary school with at least three local teachers.
He also promised a special healthcare package for women and children.
