Congress releases 3rd list of candidates
for Gujarat polls

The Congress on Sunday announced its third list of eleven candidates for the December 12 assembly polls in Gujarat, but it did not name a nominee against caretaker Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Maninagar.

It has also not announced a candidate for Ellisbridge constituency, which is represented by the Bharatiya Janata Party's Haren Pandya.

The Congress is keeping its card close to its chest about its candidates for the two seats. While Modi's candidature for Maninagar has already been announced, Pandya's name did not figure in the first four lists of 178 candidates released by the BJP.

The party had earlier indicated that it might field an academician or a person from the judiciary to take on Modi.

The candidates cleared on Sunday are Lalit Kumar Kagathara [Tankara], Mohanlal Lalji Patel [Upleta], Chandu Faldu [Manavadar], Keshavji Shivaji Chauhan [Deodar], Jaymal Khant [Meghraj], Manhar Kantibhai Patel [Modasa], Tusharsinh [Devgadh Baria], Jayendra Khatri [Cambay], Ramesh Patel [Raopura], Praveen Patel [Vaghodia] and Amar Sinh Vasava [Dediapada-ST].
