Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi hospitalised

Gujarat caretaker Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital following complaint of body ache and fatigue.

Modi, who was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night following body ache, throat pain and extreme fatigue, has been advised complete bed rest, Dr Dholakia of the Civil Hospital said.

He clarified that Modi had 'no cardiac problem'. "We have conducted all necessary clinical tests. He is perfectly all right, but needs rest," he said, and added his condition is 'stable and blood pressure normal'.

Modi's illness could delay the announcement of names of the remaining BJP candidates for the Gujarat election, party sources said.

Senior BJP leaders and party workers, who rushed to the hospital to see Modi, were not allowed to meet him. Modi had been busy for over two months with his Gaurav Yatra and other political activities following announcement of assembly election.
